“Foreign Goods 3” seeks New Chinese/East Asian Stories for third showcase to celebrate our fifth birthday and the launch of “Foreign Goods: A Collection of Writing from British East Asian Artists” curated by Pokfulam Rd Productions artistic director Jingan Young which will be published by Oberon Books in January 2018.
To celebrate the publication of our first collection with Oberon Books and Pokfulam Rd’s 5th birthday, we will be celebrating with, what else (!) a showcase of new plays, a panel discussion with the published playwrights (to be announced this month) on a Sunday in January/Feb (TBC) at a leading London fringe theatre.
We are looking for short pieces (maximum 15 minutes in length) that in some way portray, discuss, or feature East Asian themes, stories, communities, histories, individuals…
The plays will be read by industry professionals and those chosen will be performed by professional creative teams during the showcase and to both invited members of the industry and members of the public.
Writers can be of ANY background. Unfortunately this will be unpaid as we are an unfunded company and our profits from the previous showcase will go towards booking the venue.
This is an incredible opportunity for new writers, producers, directors and performers to meet our network of creative(s) and to connect with others interested in furthering representation of East Asian artists on stage.
Deadline: Friday, November 10th. Midnight.
Writes must be available the week after for a meeting with director(s) in London. TBC.
